Dear Valued Friend,
Firstly, we are deeply grateful for any contribution you may have made previously and its significant impact that it has had on AAA. With the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has imposed on our organization and the community, your support has made an immense difference thus far. Over the last year, we have been able to transition to virtual classes and assist over 2,000 individuals of children and parents across BBB County with our educational and support programs. Since our inception in 1978, our mission has been to prevent child abuse and neglect by empowering children and families in BBB County. Therefore, we are encouraged to share with you that we have seen a promising 15% decrease in reported child abuse and neglect incidents in BBB since the start of 2020. We are proud of the work that we do and the role we play in bringing about positive change to our community. But it is just as rewarding when young adults and parents return to tell us how our efforts positively impacted their lives.
Meg is one of those young parents who came to AAA that had been struggling with substance abuse since she was 16 years old. At 19, she gave birth to her son Adam but because of her disorder, was required to give him up to foster care (Meg’s grandmother). Meg felt hopeless about her situation; she thought she would never be reunited with her 2-year-old son. However, she heard about us one day and decided to enroll in our evidence-based parent support programming. Our program educated her on early childhood development and provided her with new and important skills that she could apply as a parent. In our AAA Nurturing Parenting Course, Meg learned useful strategies that emphasized the concepts of cooperation, roles and expectations, responsibility, and non-violent discipline; aimed to improve her relationship with her son. She also took part in our Active Parenting Class, where she learned the values of empathy, self-worth, and empowerment along with the parenting skills necessary for raising a toddler. With the support she received from our organization, Meg is now successfully enlisted in a recovery program and has regular visitation with Adam along with a newfound hope that she will reunite with her son so they can live a fruitful and meaningful life together as a family. Meg is just one example of the thousands of individuals that AAA has helped tremendously over the last year.
25% of AAA annual funding is dependent on your gifts, therefore, your contribution this time will go a long way in allowing us to continually serve the children and families of BBB County, especially with the uncertainty we face during the pandemic. With your donation, we can invest more into our programs that continue to reduce child abuse and neglect, and reach out to even more individuals like Meg. To donate and make a difference today, please send a check in the enclosed envelope or make an online donation through our website www.aaa.org. Thank you so much for your support as we continue our lifelong mission of empowering children and families to create a better BBB County for everyone!
Warmly,
John Smith
